SUMMARY:How the Telco Sector can Change the Game for Climate Transformation
DESCRIPTION:The climate impact of the ICT industry is often underestimated\, yet it accounts for 3 to 4% of global CO2 emissions\, about twice that of civil aviation. As a specific segment within the ICT industry\, telco operators are committing to not only reduce their own emissions (scope 1 & 2) but also the emissions of their value chains (scope 3) which typically make up more than two-thirds of a telco’s total carbon emissions\, and sometimes more than 90%. \nTo effectively address these scope 3 emissions\, telco operators need to be able to collect and manage reliable and comparable data on the holistic climate maturity of their suppliers.
